The Gift of Art

I can remember coming home from school as a child and finding our main bathroom totally redone.  This would happen all the time!  My mom is very artistic and has an eye for design as well!  #igetitfrommymama

I also remember the excitement of redoing my bedroom as a child and anxiously waiting to get home on the bus to see what mom accomplished that day.  As it turns out, I’ve had a love for decorating and designing long before I knew it.

After resigning (retiring) from my State of Michigan job when I had our first daughter, I happened to realize this passion.  I was on bedrest my whole pregnancy, so hanging out at home with our dog left a lot of time for thinking.  Thinking about how I could transform this house of ours into a home.

I could go on and on about what my mom has done for me and how she has inspired me.  Did I mention that I danced my whole childhood and my mom would make the backdrops for our recitals in our SMALL basement?  She would slowly roll some of the LARGE paper out on the floor, complete it, let it dry, then roll some more out …. she never saw the final piece until it hit the stage.  She’s quite the rockstar!

For this Mother’s Day, I wanted to give my mom something unique.  She has recently painted her living room, purchased some new furniture and was in need of filling her walls.  It was the perfectly opportunity.  As always, I headed to  I wanted to surprise mom so I picked out her art.  Her style is a little different from mine so it was fun to shop different styles.  Minted’s website is really user friendly.  When searching for mom’s pieces, I used the Mix + Match, “Color Play” tool.

Let’s check out my parent’s living room:

The white frames look great against those walls!  #swoon

(I apologize for the glare.  The whole other side of this room is sliding doors!)

I have to say, mom was surprised and quite happy with my choices!  Minted has so many options for art, even personalized pieces.  Do you like the idea of art for a gift?
