Happy September! Can you believe it’s SEPT-EM-BER? Whattttt? I know we say this every year, but it amazes me how time flies. I couldn’t be happier that Fall is in the air. I know it’s still early, but I’m anxiously waiting to decorate the house! It’s September now, can I?
Over this summer, I made a couple trips to the upper peninsula of Michigan. Have you been? No? GO! It’s a magical place. Anyways, one thing I love to do there is thrift. I will sometimes give my mom a “look for” list as she resides up there all summer and she always surprises me with her finds! I’ll always get a picture from her showing all the goodies she found me. Thank you mama. Some girlfriends and I were up there when I found these lovely baskets.
One friend, rolled her eyes at my purchase. Oh, you just wait GF, see what I do! LOL Oh, did I mention, they were a quarter?! Get OUTTT.
This idea was inspired by Penny Love Projects. She did some numbered baskets for her booth and if I was closer to her booth, I would have ran and bought them!
First, I gave them a quick spray of matted black paint.
I grabbed some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, a stencil brush and stencils.
I centered the number on the basket and applied the paint.
I like the black and white contrast! Really diggin’ B & W lately.
I stacked the baskets on the wall from smallest to large. We have tall ceilings in our living room so this worked great in there!
How fun! And, I love that I took someone’s unused baskets and turned them into something I love!
So simple and great! I really like the contrast of the dark baskets and the white numbers. Gorgeous!
Thanks Emily! I can’t get enough B and W lately!!
I love seeing what people do with all the treasures they find…such a fun transformation!
Thanks Erin!
You cannot beat that price. This looks so pottery barn-ish! All your stuff looks great!
No way! You’re right, it does! Thanks!
This is such a cool idea, Sara!
Thanks April!
Sara, you are so good at simple, yet powerful makeovers! I love these baskets! I am obsessed with numbers lately, too, so I love that piece of this project! A quarter? Seriously? Awesome! Hope you have a great weekend!
Right? I can’t get enough numbers lately either!!! Thanks for the lovely comments, means a lot!!
What do they do? Why the numbers?
Hi Holly. They are simply wall decor. Numbers have been and still are popular in farmhouse decor. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Sara, I wanted to say thanks for visiting my blog and leaving me a sweet comment on my TRASHY planter post….LOL…I tried to reply directly to your comment but you came up as a non reply blogger and I don’t see the option to leave you a message on Google + either. Your blog looks super cut, will follow you as well!!!!
Christine from Little Brags
Well, thanks for finding me on my little blog! LOL, you’re too funny! 🙂
I don’t get it,what’s the purpose?
Hi Jan! Thanks for stopping by the blog. It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure, but they are wall art. Numbers have and still are popular in farmhouse decor. I just love my new 25 cent wall art!
Love how simple yet impactful this is!!! I also love how the 1 is smaller than the others, perfect mix!
Thank you so much! I was so excited to find baskets the same, but different sizes!
