Good morning and happy Monday! If you stumbled on me from the link party, welcome. I’m glad to have you! So, yes, you read that right. A CHRISTMAS make over! Calm down, I won’t bombard you TOO much with Christmas decor before December 1st, deal?! But, I am excited that Christmas decorating is around the corner and I’ve had this little guy I picked up over the summer, for a QUARTER, in the basement ready for a makeover! This month’s Junk Revision Challenge is Holiday Decor. What a perfect match, right? It was Rudolph’s time to SHINE!
The last Junk Revision challenge I participated in was home office organization. I repurposed a muffin pan for some cute organization. Catch the rest of the details HERE.
I also grabbed a flannel shirt and faux poinsettia plant from the Salvation Army.
I gave Rudolph a quick cleaning and removed the bow and his eyes. He’s pretty old but sturdy. Out came the Old White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. One coat of that and some clear wax to seal. He was looking NEW already!
BTW, did you know plaid is SUPER hot right now? I know I’ve said it more than once but, I can’t get enough of it this Fall. I have more ideas coming with the rest of this plaid flannel shirt!
One that dried, I added two styrofoam blocks from the Dollar Tree. I cut the poinsettia plant down with wire cutters and cut the sleeve off the flannel shirt. I covered the styroform with the shirt sleeve and created a floral arrangement with the thrift store poinsettia.
I left his nose original. It’s so cute!
Notice how I used the cuff of the shirt to create a “scarf” for him. I LOVE this detail. It worked out perfectly.
Am I getting you in the Christmas mood?! 🙂
I think he’s a handsome addition to our home! I can always change out what’s in the back basket. The flannel shirt really pulls it’s all together. And, I used someone’s donations!
